President Joe Biden aims to reduce cancer deaths by 50% over next 25 years. He is boosting the moonshot initiative he started when he was Vice President to Barack Obama in 2016. It’s of course driven by the fact that he lost his son Beau to cancer in 2015. He also said a number of times on the campaign trail for POTUS in 2020 that we are going to cure cancer. It’s something he’s actually passionate about because of the loss he’s endured.
That and he knows it will boost his dreadful poll numbers. That’s just a fact and not as cynical as it sounds. A President should at all times be doing the things that will raise his poll numbers. Well except when it comes to useless war of course. But for the social stuff most of the time that means what is being done is good for the people.
Now if only Joe Biden would do what is needed to reduce the numbers of Cancer deaths almost immediately. Don’t wait 25 years when it could start to be done overnight. What is it that could do this miraculous thing so fast you may ask? Simple Medicare For All . Yup it’s really that simple a LOT of people die from cancer because they don’t get it diagnosed in time. Why don’t they get it diagnosed in time? It’s because it’s not affordable for most people to get regular checkups. It then costs the system so much much more & the person is bankrupt & Dead.
But of course the long way around has to be done as well. We have to invest in science. But also invest in people. It’s a combination that will save a ton of lives in the long run. But Medicare For All isn’t going to happen without US fighting for it. Joe Biden & so many politicians on both sides have a lot of blood money on their hands. Selling out to big pharma & the healthcare industry as a whole. We would save a lot of money & lives by doing the right thing. Which well frankly Joe Biden won’t do because as he put it in a campaign ad that it’s an insult to his son for people to have healthcare. That it’s deeply personal to him. Sadly the healthcare industry is obviously more personal to him than all your loved ones that have died from cancer. The pain you have gone through to dare question the for profit healthcare industry.
Here is the campaign ad
Also wanted to add that he said he would veto Healthcare for all if it passes the house & senate. All because of it’s price tag. Which would actually be less than the current system. So I imagine the price tag he’s talking about is the personal cost of less donations to him and the Democrats. Same exact reason the Republicans won’t let it through either even though it’s very favorable to most Americans in both parties.
We really have to reform the system & get monsters out of DC so we can put people in to actually take care of the people. I fully expect to die from something very treatable just because I can’t afford healthcare & that’s personal to me, Joe! I don’t have Obama to offer to help me if I need to sell my house to take care of myself or my sick kid if anything happened. Why don’t you bring that up when talking about healthcare? Thought so.
